In form Shrewsbury Town are next up at Stadium MK so we thought we better get the opinion of a Salop fan ahead of kick off, so its many thanks to Martin who goes by the handle of “KilliesShrew”. Many thanks Martin and all the best for the rest of the season.
1 – Do your pre-season expectations for your team match the reality of where you are in the League 1 table?
We are there or there abouts but easily a team that could achieve more. Next season will be more about building on this season’s good defence foundations as we know have decent spine of the team signed on for another year.
2 – With about a month left in the fixtures calendar, where do you see your club ending up in the League 1 table, and in the same manner where do you think the MK Dons will finish up?
I believe we will finish 15th and I fancy MK to finish 3rd with a spot in the final.
3 –The playoff picture is still very confused, who do you see going up as of right, and the four clubs to make the playoffs, and indeed the playoff winners?
1.Wigan
2.Rotherham
3.MK Dons
4.Sheff Wed
5.Plymouth
6.Oxford
Winners: Sheff Wed
4 – At the other end of the table the race for survival is also on, who do you think will get relegated?
21. AFC Wimbledon
22. Morecambe
23. Doncaster
24. Crewe
5 – Who for you is the best player in League 1?
Scott Twine and Alfie May have been in sensational form and are the main point of attack with plenty of goals and assists. Barry Bannan is also a very good player even though he’s getting on a bit he’s still providing a decent number of goals and assists from the middle.
6 – Who are the best and worst teams you have played this season?
Plymouth the best team by far and I would even say Oxford and Wycombe were not far behind them, and even though they beat us early on in season Doncaster are very poor in all departments and have surprised me at how far they have fallen, as always, a side you would expect to be challenging the playoffs or thereabouts.
7 – All fans love an away day; can you tell us the best and worst grounds you have visited and why?
Best away day depends how you score it. Stadia wise you can’t look past the big teams like Sunderland and Sheff Wed, but for me there is something great about Crewe away. Probably because we are usually successful there and we take a good following. Accrington is always good for the old school feel terracing.
Worst away day would have to be Oxford. Simply because we always lose. Gillingham as well is always a horrible away day because of the long trip and the horrible away end which isn’t fun when in the wet weather.
8 – Can you tell us the style of play we can expect to see from your team?
Everyone knows their job and is a well drilled team. You will have to work hard to break us down and always watch out for our quick counter attacks.
9 – Can you give us a player from each team that you feel will have the greatest influence on the result of the game?
Scott Twine as already mentioned for yourselves will be the key and is deadly from set pieces.
For Shrewsbury it’s man of the moment Daniel Udoh. Let’s just say don’t give him a touch and space to get a shot away as he will punish you. 4 goals in 3 games going into this fixture and a season best of 15 so far.
10 – Thanks for taking part, all we need now is your prediction for the game?
I can see Salop soaking up a lot of the play as MK look to take control of the game, but the form Shrewsbury are on and also a potential double on the cards will see us get a 1-1 draw on Saturday to continue our recent unbeaten run.
