Big match on Saturday, so cometh the hour, cometh the man, and a former Premiership referee Robert “Bobby” Madley returns to Stadium MK.
The last time we saw ref Madley was back in November earlier in the season where we went down 2-1 to a late winner at Hillsborough versus Sheffield Wednesday.
Madley is no stranger to controversy and is still registered as a resident of Oslo, although it’s more likely he is back living in the place of his birth Wakefield and was a former full time Premiership referee until a video surfaced of him mocking a disabled person and he was dismissed from the ranks of PGMOL refs in 2019.
Following his dismissal, he relocated to Norway and officiated lower league matches, but a subsequent hearing with the EFL and it was agreed he would officiate at grass roots level before returning to EFL football for the 2020/21 season.
Madley has been the man in the middle this season on 28 occasions and has booked 97 players although he has so far not upgraded that to a double yellow. In addition, he has sent 4 players from the field of play, but the most staggering stat is that he has awarded 12 penalties this season, so if you fancy a punt, this may be the place to look.
Bobby Madley will be assisted by Ravel Cheosiaua and Chris Wade on the flags, with Mark Jones as the 4th Official.
