DONNY & MOOIE TROPHY WYCOMBE

ADAMS PARK

Groundhopper travelled undercover to Adams Park to see if it really was £7 a pie, and was disappointed to find out it was, and was further disappointed its still difficult to get away after the game. See how Wycombe measures up to the other clubs in League 1.

First Impressions of the stadium, parking, ease of entry.7Adams Park is situated at the far end of an industrial estate and is about 30 years old and has three stands and a terrace. Parking is an issue and so many chose to travel by coach which were parked at the rear of a nearby industrial unit. Entry to the ground was straightforward. Bags were given a cursory search.
Food & Drink, range, quality, price.5There was no alcohol available in the away end but there was a beer tent located outside. The kiosk served the standard pies, sausage rolls, hot & cold drinks. Apparently, the pies were good but £7 is incredibly expensive.
View from your seat, any poles in the way, obstructed view, seat broken?8We were located in the East Stand behind the goal where the view of the pitch was unobstructed.
Home team support, was it a library, good banter between the fans?6The attendance for this fixture was 7,345 with a terrace of home fans located behind the other goal. The home support could rarely be heard.
What were the stewards like, helpful and friendly or jobsworths?6The stewards on the gate were friendly. The stewards in the ground immediately behind the goal were insisting that fans sit in their allocated seats.  Generally, on away days fans sit where they want allowing supporters to find their own level and so many resorted to finding alternative routes to their chosen location. Unfortunately, the stewards didn’t stop the latecomers from standing on the stairs behind the goal and overcrowding that area at the back of the stand.
Toilet facilities, clean and well equipped with hot water, disgusting.7The toilet blocks are small and in need of attention. There was hot water.
Ticket pricing, did the price reflect the facilities of the ground?5£25 for an adult ticket is one of the most expensive in the league and didn’t reflect the facilities.
Ground facilities, half time service, did they let fans outside at halftime?6The small concourse area at the side of the stand is open to the elements and there is little room. Fans were allowed out to smoke and use the outside bar. Wheelchair users were located with their own fans.  The public address system could not be heard.
Match atmosphere, did the Dons fans give good support?8The attendance for this match was 7,345 of which 1,466 were MK fans. The away support was excellent, making plenty of noise. Wycombe aren’t allowing any musical instruments this season & so the drum stayed away. I’ve deliberately chosen not to comment further on the behaviour of some supporters.
Ease of exit, did the carpark clear quickly, traffic around the stadium?4The coaches had been moved from their drop off point, lined up for departure. Unfortunately with one exit from the ground this was incredibly slow.
