DONNY & MOOIE TROPHY BURTON ALBION

The Pirelli Stadium

A midweek trip to Burton for Groundhopper this week for the rearranged fixture at the Pirelli Stadium and an expert eye cast over the facilities. An average score for Burton, but a nice if not cold evening out, pity we don’t give bonus points for coming home with the points.

First Impressions of the stadium, parking, ease of entry.8The Pirelli is a relatively new stadium with a capacity of just under 7000 with parking available on site. The coaches dropped off on the opposite side of the ground to the away entrance. Entry to the ground was straightforward.
Food & Drink, range, quality, price.6Alcohol was available in the bar located at the rear of the away terrace. Adjacent to the bar is a kiosk which sold hot food etc including burgers, sausages & chips. Unfortunately, when the kiosk first opened we were told that some items wouldn’t be available until half-time weren’t and the first pie served was cold. I was told that the burgers weren’t very appetising.
View from your seat, any poles in the way, obstructed view, seat broken?8This was a rearranged fixture where tickets from the December fixture remained valid. Most fans chose to stand on the East Stand Terrace behind the goal with seats available at the end of the adjacent South Stand. The terrace is covered with a good view close to the pitch.
Home team support, was it a library, good banter between the fans?6The attendance was 2,171 and so it wasn’t a surprise that the main Burton support, located at the opposite terrace, weren’t particularly vocal.
What were the stewards like, helpful and friendly or jobsworths?7The stewards were friendly, no issues.
Toilet facilities, clean and well equipped with hot water, disgusting.7The toilets located on the outer concourse were clean but in need of some maintenance. No hot water.
Ticket pricing, did the price reflect the facilities of the ground?8£18 for an adult ticket on the terrace was good value.
Ground facilities, half time service, did they let fans outside at halftime?7The concourse area at the rear of the terrace stand is open to the elements. Fans were allowed out to smoke. Wheelchair users are located with their own fans
Match atmosphere, did the Dons fans give good support?8Just over 300 MK fans were in attendance, but they made plenty of noise with the aid of the drum.
Ease of exit, did the carpark clear quickly, traffic around the stadium?7Exit from the ground was straightforward. The coaches were waiting on the road by the away end. The traffic in the surrounding area cleared relatively quickly, a reflection on the Tuesday night attendance.
