A rearranged trip to the Pirelli Stadium is next on the agenda for the Dons on Tuesday night and unsurprisingly a change of our matchday officials from that original date.
Darren Handley from Lancashire is now the man in charge, and we can only presume he has been involved as a lino in the Premiership and Championship this season as we can only find that he has taken control of one fixture this season, a 0-0 clash between Hartlepool Utd and Oldham Athletic in which he booked 4 players.
There is no record of him at all for last season, so we have had to scroll back to February 1st, 2020, to check when we last brushed shoulders with this elusive referee.
It was a “Battle of Bucks” fixture with Wycombe Wanderers at Stadium MK which the Dons won 2-0 in front of a crowd just shy of 10,000, but can you remember the goal scorers, more on that at the bottom of the page.
At the time we were in 20th place, and behind you know who on goal difference, conversely Wycombe were top of the league, level on points with Rotherham Utd.
To give us an insight into Mr Handley’s booking stats, that season he covered 27 fixtures booking 91 players, he converted 4 of those to double yellow offences, in addition he showed 4 straight reds and awarded 7 penalties, which is above average at this level.
He will be assisted on Tuesday night by Lewis Raper and Chris Wade, with Tom Reeves as the 4th Official.
So did you guess correctly ?…..Rhys Healey got the scoring going in the 67th minute, a Jordan Houghton cross was flicked on by Carlton Morris and Healey was on hand at the back post to tap it home. Ben Gladwin scored the second 4 minutes from time, a surging run at the box saw him pull the trigger on the edge with a left footed drive to give the Dons the much-needed points.
