REF WATCH – BURTON

A trip to the Pirelli Stadium against Burton Albion is next on the cards for the Dons and it has a touch of added spice with the news Brett Huxtable is set to be the man in charge.

Cuddly Brett has been a firm favourite with Dons fans for years, never far from a dodgy decision or a debatable call but we have to admit he has behaved himself in recent times and in an act of coincidence the last time we saw him was against our opponents at the Pirelli Stadium in an EFL Trophy Group Match in which we won 2-1 in August of this season, but can you recall who scored the goals, the answer to that one is at the end of this article.

Mr Huxtable from Devon hasn’t had that many games this season for a mixture of reasons, he was on holiday (I asked him the last time we met), an injury and a bit of moonlighting as a 4th official in the Championship.

So just the 11 fixtures for him this season, where he averages a fraction above 3 cards per game, in fact its 34 yellows, but the surprising thing is 0 red cards, and 0 penalties.

Right then back to that group game against Burton Albion, the scorers were Jay Bird with his 1st goal of the season, Harry Darling with his 1st ever Dons goal, and Matt O’Riley unfortunately had a hand in the Burton goal as a freekick took a deflection off him and looped in the net past Laurie Walker.

Brett will be assisted by Matthew Wilkes and Christopher Wade on the flags, with Ollie Yates as the 4th Official .
