REF WATCH WIGAN

Back to midweek action for the Dons and a long trip for the faithful to overcome up to Wigan…… not the easiest of trips midweek.

For those that do manage to make the trip we are to be treated to a masterclass from Darren Drysdale of Lincolnshire.

Now some of you might just be recalling right now that the name rings a bell, and you would be correct as Mr Drysdale had a brush with the EFL authorities when he appeared to square up to Alan Judge in the Ipswich v Northampton Town game last season. Drysdale was charged with “Improper Conduct” for failing to keep his composure and conduct himself in a manner befitting his role in a game. Drysdale was sent on gardening leave and served a 5-match ban and warned of his future conduct.

Mr Drysdale has officiated at 9 games this term, cautioning 35 players, converting one of those into a double yellow offence and ultimately a red card. In addition, he has handed out 1 straight red card and awarded 1 penalty.

The last time we saw Darren was back on November 24th, 2020, in our 2-2 home draw with Shrewsbury Town. The Dons were losing 2-0 including a goal after just 30 seconds on the clock but Carlton Morris and Cameron Jerome rescued a point.

On the flags on Tuesday night, we have Jonathan Bickerdike and Lisa Rashid, the first time in over 3 years the Dons have had a female official.

The 4th official is Mark Jones.
