IN FOCUS SWINDON TOWN

Swindon Town are a team generally disliked by Dons fans, and in honesty I don’t think they have much time for us either, and in truth I can’t say as I really know why there is bit of history there somewhere, perhaps thinking about it, it stems from when we were fighting tooth and nail with them to get promoted to the Championship, but it could be further back than that, who knows.

John Sheridan was the boss but following a terrible run the Robins have sunk without a trace and he resigned on Sunday afternoon, just think it wasn’t all that long ago he was being touted to be the MK Dons boss. Tommy Wright, Sheridan’s assistant takes control until the end of the season.

So, let’s take a look at the Robins…. now how does that song go, “When the Red Red Robin goes bob bob bobbing along…………

THE MANAGER – Tommy Wright aged 55 born in Dunfermline.John Sheridan for the sake of his own sanity resigned on Sunday afternoon and in stepped his assistant Tommy Wright until the end of the season and he will be assisted by Lee Peacock. Tommy is a regular to the world of the caretaker manager role as he has done it at Chesterfield, Barnsley, Carlisle United, and now Swindon until the end of the season. In his playing days he was a winger for a number of teams including Leeds United, Oldham Athletic over 2 spells, Leicester City, Middlesbrough, Bradford City, St Johnstone, Livingston, and Doncaster Rovers playing 455 games and scoring 86 goals.. Unfortunately I cannot find any records for Tommy’s managerial Win Ratio, but I did unearth one snippet of interest about him. Whilst in the caretaker role at Barnsley he was suspended in September 2016 pending an investigation that he had taken a £5,000 cash bribe to arrange players transfers. It finally came to court in October 2019 at which he was convicted  of soliciting and accepting bribes.
