REF WATCH GILLINGHAM

We have a game on the road at the Priestfield Stadium on Tuesday night versus the unpredictable Gillingham Town to contend with next, and in charge is the familiar face of Sam Purkiss from London.

The last time our paths crossed was in our 2-2 home draw with Sunderland on February 6th this season where Mr Purkiss was the 4th Official, our goals coming from Joe Mason (9’) and Cameron Jerome (19’).

The last time we saw him in the centre of the park was also fairly recently in our game at Swindon on the 29th of December when we won 4-1, our goals coming from Jerome (4’ & 40’), Harvie (28’) and Poole (77’). You may also recall Mr Purkiss sent off Rob Hunt late on for a bad challenge on Regan Poole.

Ref Purkiss has overseen 21 games so far this season as the ref plus another 8 games as the 4th Official. In that time he has flashed the yellow card on 51 occasions and 8 red cards which appears a bit high to me, averaging about 1 red card every 3 games, he is overdue to give it an airing.

Mr Purkiss is assisted by Stephen Finch and Paul Kelly on the flags, with Chris Pollard attending to the 4th Official duties.
