Many thanks to Oxford fan 37 year old Luke Bodily, who stepped in at the last minute to help us out just when we were starting to struggle getting a response from Oxford United fans. We are still going strong, and still 100% this season, but we could always do with any help making that connection, so if any of you have links to fans of other clubs in our remaining fixtures we would love to hear from you.
We are now well into the season, has it gone about how you thought it would for your club this season so far?
We had a really poor start to the season, slower than normal, but the injuries we had also didn’t help, and having to try players in different positions to cover the injuries all contributed. Since mid-November we’ve had pretty much everyone back and 1 defeat in 16 says everything about how strong a squad we have.
Where do you think your club will finish up in the league this season?
I really fancy us for the playoffs, we’re only a couple points off with games in hand, we have Pompey ,Peterborough ,Charlton, and Donny all to come at home in the next couple of weeks so it’s in our hands.
What has been your best result this season, and of course your worst?
It would have to be the 4-0 win at home to Northampton that started the run and got us going, other fans may not agree but for me that’s the one where we looked like the Oxford from last season….. The obvious defeat was losing to that lot (S*****n) after being in total control in the first half, but the 2nd half was the worst of the season, it was awful to watch.
Do you think your club has acted well towards the fans in terms of compensation, offers and discounts for season ticket holders?
Yeah, I don’t think the club could do anymore, it’s been a testing 12 months for everyone hasn’t it, the club have even been calling the older generation of fans who are alone and having chats with them which is a really good thing to do.
Which opposition team that you have played has impressed you the most this season?
I’m not sure there has been a standout team to be honest, probably Peterborough just for the squad they have, they seem strong all over the pitch and I wouldn’t be surprised if they go on to win the league.
Which player has stood out for your team this season, and which player has come through the ranks and looks a real prospect?
For me its Rob Atkinson, he looks to be the next Rob Dickie, we signed him from Eastleigh, and he’s come in and looked at home pretty much from the off, solid at the back, can play any sort of pass and he loves a run out from the back, he just looks so composed. Obviously Matty Taylor is having a good season, he’s going through a bit of a lean spell ATM but I’m hopeful he will find his scoring boots again soon, there’s a couple of loan signings that look good as well in Shodipo, Barker, and Elliot Lee.
Which MK Dons player stands out to you as a game changer in our clash?
Cameron Jerome, he’s been there and done it and has the experience, and at this level will score goals, I think he scored against us at home earlier in the season, Will Grigg is another player that I wouldn’t have minded at Oxford.
What style of play can we expect to see from your team?
I think you know what style of play you will get from us, we love to play football, play out from the back, and we have quick wingers who will run at defenders for fun, plenty of balls into the box, a typical Robbo side.
Have you ever been to Stadium MK, if so, what’s your opinion on it?
Yeah I’ve been a couple of times its very local to me, I’ve never seen us win or lose a 0-0 and a 1-1, don’t think much of your stewards though!!
Where do you think the MK Dons will finish in the league table?
You also had a poor start didn’t you, but Russell Martin seems to be getting the team he wants and your also on a decent run and not far behind us, wouldn’t be surprised if your knocking on the door of the playoffs either.
From what you have seen, who are your tips for the league title, promotion, and relegation?
As I said in another question earlier I think Peterborough win the league, Hull, or Lincoln for 2nd, then there’s about 7 or 8 teams who can finish in the playoffs and I’m confident we’re 1 of those teams. The bottom four I think will be Burton, Wigan, Northampton, Swindon 😛
Can you give us your match prediction?
I think it will be a very good game of football between two sides who like to play the right way, we’re due a win at Stadium MK, but it’s gonna be a tough game which I just see us edging 2-1.
