TRASH TALK SHREWSBURY

Many Thanks to Shrews fan 16 year old Harry Gardener from the West Stand Blog who has helped us out with today’s TRASH TALK for our game on Tuesday night which kicks off at 7pm and is a clash of two of the current form teams in League 1. Again thanks to Harry, anyone that predicts AFCW to get relegated is ok with us.

Can you tell us a little-known fact about your club?

We were the first club in England to introduce safe standing areas in the stadium, with Man UTD now reportedly being interested in following suit.

We have spoken to fans from many clubs about how clubs have compensated those that bought season tickets this season and last, how has your club compensated fans?

For the curtailed 19/20 season, fans were offered refunds based on the number of games we had left to play, however, for the fans who turned them down, the club is erecting a monument on the wall outside the stadium with every fans name who said no to a refund. For this season, fans are sent an iFollow code for each home game, and also got the chance to go to the Northampton match in September and then the few home games in December too.

Fans last year were returning to grounds with reduced attendances, how did your club go about allocating tickets?

Fans with season tickets were given priority and then any spare were sold to the general public.

How has the season gone for you so far?

The 17th we currently sit in is where I would expect us to be, however, not so long ago we were in 23rd with Ricketts as manager! Since then, Cotterill has come in (best wishes with the recovery gaffer!) and got us playing good football and shooting up the league. I think we still have a lot more to give and can certainly make a surge for top half.

What has been the best and worst results so far this season?

Our best result is definitely the 2-0 win over Peterborough, with a Harry Chapman brace, we were top class that day. Our worst result is probably the 3-3 draw with Swindon, especially when you consider we were 2-0 and 3-1 up at stages.

Who was been your best player so far, and another player we should keep an eye on?

Harry Chapman’s excellent form has been well documented, so alongside him, I would say Shaun Whalley, he is consistently a hard worker and a very tricky dribbler.

Where do you see your club in the table at the end of the season?

Probably around the 12th mark, we are certainly one of the better sides in the division under Cotterill in my opinion.

Have you ever been to the Stadium MK, if so, what was your impression of it?

I have never been personally, however, it certainly looks an impressive facility, very modern and lots of seats, potential for a growing fanbase should you get promoted.

What player do you fear most in the MK Dons team?

It has to be Scott Fraser or Ethan Laird for me. Fraser seems a great technical player and Laird looks like a monster down the right- endless energy!

Who is your tip for promotion and relegation?

Promotion- Hull, Lincoln, Accrington (Playoffs). Relegation- Burton, Swindon, AFC Wimbledon, Bristol Rovers.

Match Prediction?

A 2-1 win for the Shrews.
