TRASH TALK 2 HULL

We are continuing with our 100% record and we are this week grateful for the assistance of the Hull City Official Supporters Club who put us in touch with Vice Chair 64 year old Melvyn Utley who was happy to answer our questions and very kindly invited a few of our committee members on to a Zoom Call prior to the kick-off which will hopefully be going out live, so we will see if we can hook you up to that. For now though, over to Melvyn to answer the questions for our second helping of TRASH TALK from Hull City fans.

We are now well into the season, has it gone about how you thought it would for your club this season so far?

I am actually reasonably surprised at how well we are doing. I expected us to be a few places lower than we are at the mid-point.

Where do you think your club will finish up in the league this season?

I always expect us to win the league, every season, so I will be disappointed if we even finish second.

What has been your best result this season, and of course your worst?

Three Games against Fleetwood in the League and FA Cup & Trophy. The League game (4-1) defeat was very hard to watch, they pressed us hard and we just did not respond. The FA Cup tie was a complete change of squad and it showed its depth. And then in the Trophy tie, they had us in the first half, nothing was going right and a 15 minute spell at the end brought us a great win.

Do you think your club has acted well towards the fans in terms of compensation, offers and discounts for season ticket holders?

Hull City operates a different scheme to other clubs, supporters buy a membership, which gives them a seat, but it is a monthly payment all year round. Members get a code for the home games, along with points to spend in the club shop etc. A single member in a household is probably as well off, but generally it doesn’t work out well for a family. Could the club do more, probably, but it is hard to envisage a fair to everyone scheme.

Which opposition team that you have played has impressed you the most this season?

Shrewsbury.

Which player has stood out for your team this season, and which player has come through the ranks and looks a real prospect?

How long a list can I have? George Honeyman is a driving force in the team and when he isn’t in the starting line-up we miss him.

Prospects, we have several home grown players in the squad, all of the talk will be of Keane Lewis-Potter, but for me the real star in the making is Jacob Greaves, mark my words, this lad, is good, very good.

Which MK Dons player stands out to you as a game changer in our clash?

Steven Walker looked to be a great loan when we last played you.

What style of play can we expect to see from your team?

We will use every area of the pitch, with plenty of width and crosses into the box. A real threat is from our set pieces.

Have you ever been to Stadium MK, if so, what’s your opinion on it?

I haven’t been sadly, COVID-19 put paid to that.

Where do you think the MK Dons will finish in the league table?

I hope you make the play offs.

From what you have seen, who are your tips for the league title, promotion, and relegation?

League Title, the Tigers have to be in with a good shout.

Promotion – Portsmouth

Relegation – Wigan

Can you give us your match prediction?

Hull City 3 MK Dons 2
