I think I’m right in saying this is a fixture that got cancelled just before Christmas because Rochdale had Covid 19 in their camp. All appears to be ok now, and Rochdale have had some real goal fests on their return, so this has all the makings of a good nights entertainment, just so long as we win.
Keeping a tally of all the goals going in will be well known ref Carl Boyeson from Hull who I think we may have a bit of history with, but at the moment I can’t think where from, but don’t worry I’m about to track him down on Google, so possibly all will be revealed.
Well I cant really find much on Google; other than the last time we saw him was back in March 2020 where we suffered a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Doncaster, I think that was probably about the last game we played that season because of Covid. Then previously we saw him in the 1-1 draw with Coventry at St Andrews, when Carlton Morris scored very late to start chaotic celebrations in the Away End.
There is also a large section on him on the Grimsby Town SA website where they compare him to the devil, and there is a catalogue of detailed reasons covering several years.
Mr Boyeson has taken charge on 17 occasions this season and has only just returned after not appearing to be officiating since the end of December. So far he has dished out 58 yellows, with apparently no reds and no penalties but I’m finding that hard to believe, but its hard to find a reliable website that keeps up to date.
Ref Boyeson is joined on the flags by Christopher Ward and Mark Cunliffe, with Peter Gooch on 4th Official duties.
