Was it always your childhood dream to be a professional football player?

Yes, as a boy I didn’t want to do anything else.

Do you have a memorable goal you have scored for MK Dons and what makes that particular goal memorable for you?

The first goal I ever scored for the Dons was on my debut and a header at home in the 2004/05 season versus Barnsley in a 1-1 draw that set me up to have a really good season that year, playing 48 games in all competitions and scoring 18 goals, plus a career at the Dons of 188 games in all competitions, scoring 65 goals.

What was your most memorable moment with the MK Dons?

Being named Player of the Season by the League and winning the Golden Boot.

Do you have any other moments in football that stand out and why?

My debut for Derby County is probably the most stand out moment in my career, I was 17 and told I was starting in the changing room when the team was being named, we went on to win the game.

What are the best & worst things about being a professional football player?

The best thing is playing in front of the fans!…… The worst thing is pre-season training!

If you have seen any games this season, have there been any players which have stood out to you?

Paul Pogba is playing well at the moment, when he is playing well, he is fantastic to watch.

We see you have a Soccer School, was this something you always wanted to do when you decided to hang up your playing boots?

Yes, I have a soccer school, #IZALEMCLEODSOCCERSCHOOL

I always loved coaching and as soon as I retired, I wanted to help and coach young players. My goal is to teach both boys & girls the right technical fundamentals which will help them to become better players.

You can find all details about Izale’s school on Facebook and Instagram.
