Its back again, the game everyone loves, and everyone hates in equal measures, yes folks it’s those lovely people from Tooting. The last time we played them back in October they were going along very nicely thank you very much, sitting in 11th everything appeared sweet, but recently the wheels seem to have fallen off. I confess I don’t really know why, possibly injuries to key players, who knows, who cares in honesty. I’m sure both teams would love the bragging rights of a win but of course there are other things at stake here, such as the ever-present threat of relegation, all will become clear around 4-45pm.

The first time on this pitch which should be in a fair condition, I suppose the only other things to consider are, will the scoreboard work, and what is the commentary going to be like.

I’m not going to say anymore, this game has been talked about for years, the whole thing has been dissected many times, we all have our opinions, so lets just get on with it.

THE MANAGERGlyn Peter Hodges aged 57 and born in Streatham.

As a midfielder he started his playing career with Wimbledon in 1980 and played 273 times scoring 55 goals. He has also played for Koparit in Finland, Newcastle United, Watford, Crystal Palace, Sheffield United, Derby County, Sing Tao in Hong Kong, Hull City, Notts Forest and finally Scarborough, in total playing in 623 games scoring a very respectable 109 goals.

As a manager he had two Caretaker spells with Barnsley, then 5 years in charge of the Stoke City U23’s before taking over from Wally Downes in October 2019.

His career stats as a manager show him slightly below average at a 28% WIN RATIO with a record of GAMES 100, WON 28, DRAWN 29, LOST 43.

The antagonistic, self-righteous Simon Wheeler, Nicola “made up name” Logan, Bath Womble, Tim Wiltshire, WombleTom, the National Media and the BBC Sports Team, plus thousands more that believe in fairy stories, the Easter Bunny, Mermaids, Elf’s, Goblins, the Tooth Fairy, and Santa.

The human roundabout Adebayo Akinfenwa, Drewe Broughton, Marcus Gayle, the “MC” Harvey, Neil Sullivan, George Moncur, Jack Midson.

Only five, Wally Downes, Neal Ardley, Dave Anderson, Terry Brown, and Terry Eames.

A Womble that picks up things that others discard, which has a certain irony about it.

SHOOTERS BOOTS – Joe Pigott with 12 goals so far and it has to be said from what I’ve seen of him, destined for bigger things, quality player at this level.
