DONS FANS OVERSEAS AUSTRALIA – MKDSA – Milton Keynes Dons Supporters Association.

DONS FANS OVERSEAS AUSTRALIA

The first of a few in the pipeline in our new feature “Dons Fans Overseas”, so many thanks to those that have responded so far, please be patient they will go up in the coming days and weeks, but we are currently swamped with interviews. Our first one comes from Down Under from Mark Webber (Pictured below with family). Many thanks to Mark, I’m sure Dons fans will find it an interesting read.

NAME – Mark Webber
AGE – 40ish plus a few years
LOCATION – Sydney, Australia
PREVIOUS UK LOCATION – Bletchley, Milton Keynes.

Can you tell us how you first became a Dons fan, and can you recall your first ever game watching the Dons?

A friend who was a season ticket holder invited us to a game and it was against Bradford City – 6th October 2007 and we won 2-1, great game.

Can you remember your last game following the Dons?

The last time we were in the UK we stayed at the Stadium MK hotel and saw the Dons play Lincoln City on 20th August 2019 and we won 2-1. We took our 3 children and brought new Dons shirts (kids still love wearing them but need to buy new ones soon). We also saw the Peterborough game later that week, but I won’t mention that, but I did briefly speak to Pete Winkelman afterwards in the car park.

How do you keep up with all the latest Dons news?

I keep up to date with the Dons on FB pages, Twitter, the MK Dons official website, iPlayer and the LiveScore app for scores.

We imagine it’s difficult to watch games given the time difference, how do you manage, for day and night games?

It’s hard to watch matches live as it is normally 2am kick off time over here so normally watch games later in day or the highlights.

Do you have any plans to return to SMK this year or in the near future?

Unfortunately, we can’t visit SMK whilst Covid 19 is still around as we can’t leave the country.

Which Dons player has impressed you the most this season?

I have not really seen enough live matches, but Carlton Morris impressed me, shame he has gone now.

What’s your opinion on Russell Martin and the style of play he has introduced?

Unfortunately, again I haven’t seen enough games to comment.

Who is a good tip for League 1 promotion and relegation, and where do you think the Dons will finish up this season?

I think the Dons will be midtable hopefully above 12th, I would love to see AFC Wimbledon go down.

Did you ever take in an away game following the Dons, if so, which is your favourite ground visited?

Best game I can remember going to was Wembley in 2008 when we beat Grimsby 2- 0! I also remember going to a game at Northampton and the game was abandoned halfway through due to heavy rain.

White shirt, red shirt, or black shirt?

Red shirt.

Home or away games?

Home games.

Since you have moved, have you been to watch a game in your adopted country?

We have a few times but not the same as going to see the mighty Dons…MK ARMY.

Can you tell us how Covid 19 has impacted on football in your adopted country?

All sports have been impacted over here but not as bad as the UK so fans can still go to games.

Any other comments?

I miss going to matches and singing my heart away during matches.

COME ON YOU DONS.
