Well it seemed like a good idea at the time, but we were not really happy how our first attempt at looking at the weekend’s referee turned out with our Men in Black theme. Oh well, we are learning as we go along and will make tweaks here and there, none of us are website designers, but I guess you have already realised that. So, we have a new title for our weekly look at the man in the middle, it is called Ref Watch and we will be sticking to this one.
This week’s man in the middle is Andy Haines from Tyne & Wear and this is only the second time he has been the man officiating for us. The first game was way back January 2019 when we suffered a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Crewe Alexandra and Haines flashed 4 yellows. The most recent time we have encountered Haines was a very memorable day for Dons fans back in September 2019 when we took Blackpool apart 3-0 on their own pitch at the cost of one yellow card.
Last season Haines took charge of 32 fixtures and handed out 49 yellow cards and 5 red and awarding just 5 penalties.
Assistant Refs are Steven Rushton and Alistair Nelson with Alan Clayton as the 4th Official.
