Born in Woolwich, South London, on 3 November 1961, football legend Ian joined MK Dons as part-time First Team Coach on 18 May 2012, coaching the team two to three times a week. He left the role in June 2013, explaining “other commitments” meant he could no longer commit to his duties.

Ian played for Crystal Palace and Arsenal, spending six years with the former and seven years with the latter. With Arsenal he won the Premier League title, both major domestic trophies, and the European Cup Winners Cup. He also played in the Premier League for West Ham United, the Scottish Premier League for Celtic and the Football League for Burnley and Nottingham Forest.

He played 581 league games in all, scoring 387 goals for seven clubs in England and Scotland and was capped 33 times for England.

After retiring from playing he has been active in the media, usually in football-related TV and radio shows. His sons, Bradley and Shaun are both professional footballers.
