Antony was born in Barnsley on 21 October 1982 and began his footballing career as a schoolboy with his home-town club Barnsley and stayed with them until 2007 before joining Tranmere Rovers.

In May 2009 he signed for Huddersfield Town and joined MK Dons on 10 August 2012. He made his club debut at Cheltenham two days later – and got sent off in injury time on his league debut in the 2-0 win against Oldham the following week.

He reached 100 appearances with the Dons at Notts County on Boxing Day in 2014.

Perhaps his most notable goals were the winners at Sheffield United in August 2013 and at home against Swindon in November 2014.

Throughout his time at MK, he continued to live up North with his wife and four children and commuted on a regular basis for training and matches.

In June 2016 he signed for Bury and became the club captain before moving to Port Vale in July 2017.
