Born in Sunderland on 12 February 1959, Mick started his playing career at Lincoln City in 1977. He was there for just over three years before moving to Newcastle in a £180,000 transfer.
He went on to play for Bristol City, Birmingham, Luton (twice), Derby, Chelsea, Sunderland, Coventry and Wimbledon and was capped twice for England.
He scored his last professional goal at the age of 38 years and 34 days for Wimbledon against West Ham on 18 March 1997, before switching to a coaching role at Selhurst Park.
He moved on to Luton and Nottingham Forest, before becoming caretaker manager of Forest in 2004 on the departure of Joe Kinnear. He managed Rotherham, Luton and was caretaker manager of QPR twice before joining the Dons as Assistant Manager in May 2012.
He left Milton Keynes in June 2013 to become a coach at Millwall.
